Our Mission 目標
We want to build an international community of folks curious about all things DIY, from homesteading to crafting and beyond. Sunday afternoons from about 3 PM until the project`s finished, join us at our home in Toyohiraku, Sapporo-shi for workshops on a variety of topics such as yogurt and cheese making, other food fermentations, soap making, gardening, crafts and DIY solutions, making homemade mustard and hot sauce, roasting your own coffee beans, drying herbs and flowers, and anything else that we get curious about. Through this community we hope to indulge our own curiousities and promote cross cultural exchange in Sapporo.

Make suggestions for topics on the contact page as well, or come by on Sunday and suggest them in person. Be a guest instructor and teach us your recipe, craft, hobby, or technique. We welcome presentations in Japanese and/or English.

我々の目標とは、自作農場や美術工芸から始め、DIYのありとあらゆるに興味を持っている国際的なコミュニティーを作りたいことです。毎週日曜日午後３時からプロジェクトが終るまで、ヨーグルトやチーズを作ったり、他の発酵した食べ物を作ったり、手作り石けん、庭造り、工芸やDIY解決策、手作りマスタードとピリッと辛いソース、自分のコーヒー豆を炒ったり、お花やハーブを乾燥したり、その他何か思い付くこととか、様々なワークショップを体験しに、私たちの札幌市豊平区にある家に一緒に来ませんか？このコミュニティーを通して、みんなの趣味に興じ、札幌で国際化振興をアピールしたいと思います。

Who can come 参加できる人は？Anyone! Just RSVP so we can prepare enough materials for everyone. Unfortunately, due to limited workspace, we can only accomodate a limited number of people each Sunday. We`ll see how it goes at the first few workshops, but the tentative maximum is 15 people for now.
誰でも参加できるのでーす！ただ、こちらの方から用品を整えるため、事前にご出欠のお返事を下さい。残念ながら、ワークスペースの数量には限りがありますので、毎週日曜日に限定された人数に限ります。今のところでは、マックスは１５人なんですけど、様子を見ながらということですね。
Language 言語とは？ We speak a little more Japanese each day, but we`re not fluent. Please come even if you can`t speak English!
私たちは毎日少しづつで自分の日本語能力を増やしていこうとしているのですが、どう見ても日本語の得意ではありません。英語を話せない方でも大歓迎です！
Details 詳しくは: We`ll provide the space and coffee and tea. We will hold an informal workshop where you can learn a new skill, meet other Sapporo-ites, and relax on a Sunday afternoon. For most workshops we will ask for a 500 yen donation. This will cover the cost of the materials and supplies which we will provide. Some workshops may not require materials or we may ask you to bring some. In that case we will adjust the price. Even if you don`t want to buy materials and create your own, you are welcome to come watch and enjoy the afternoon for free!
こちらの方からスペースとコーヒーやお茶を提供します。新しい技術を身につけたり、札幌の地元人と交流したり、落ち着けるようなインフォーマルなワークショップを目指しています。普段は500円の寄付を募集しますので、ご協力をお願い出来れば幸いです。寄付は用品や準備の予算に入れますので、決して無駄にはなりません。用品や準備かからないワークショップもあり、自分の材料や用品を持ってきてくださるようにお願いするワークショップもあります。その場合には、求められる寄付が変わることもあります。もしかしたら、自分から用品や材料持ってきて、工芸を作るには興味を持っていない方がいらっしゃるとしたら、見学でも是非とも来て頂ければ嬉しいです。

About us 私たちについて
We (Jess and Brian Laggis) moved to Sapporo in late July, 2010 to teach English with the Japan Exchange and Teaching program. We`re always interested in adventures and new experiences, but we also like to discover the processes of the things around us. We`d rather find out how to make cheese (or soap or anything else) from the very beginning (or as close to the cow as we can get) than buy it from the store. If we see something we like, we try to make it ourselves. As a result, we`ve learned a lot of techniques for making and creating things from scratch or from repurposed materials. We`re no experts, we have no formal training, and our finished products aren`t always perfect, but we enjoy the process and the learning. So come learn and share with us!
私たちは、2010年8月下旬にJET (外国語青年招致事業) という機関を通して札幌に引っ越してきたジェスとブライアン・ラギス（既婚）です。大冒険や新しい経験に興味津々ですが、身の回りにある制度やプロセスを発見するのも興味深いです。チーズをお店から買うより、自分で最初から（てゆーか牛にぶつかるまで）チーズの作り方をやってみた方が面白いなっと思います。もし好きな何か見つけたら、自分で作ってみようとするタイプです。その結果とは、リサイクルされた用品でゼロから何かを作り上げるの様々な技術や裏ワザを覚えてきました。プロでもなくて、正式な資格も無しで、しかもたまにパーフェクトに近づかない製品も出てくるけど、そのプロセスと学ぶことがエンジョイできます。ご一緒にはいかがでしょうか？
